Dermatologist, Doctor of Medical Sciences, and Professor Yulia Galyamova has explained why small red spots that resemble moles may appear on the skin.
According to the specialist, these formations are known as hemangiomas. They are enlarged blood vessels that appear on the surface of the skin and often look like tiny red or cherry-colored dots. Despite common misconceptions, hemangiomas are not dangerous and are considered a benign condition.
Professor Galyamova noted that there are various assumptions linking hemangiomas to metabolic syndrome, internal liver pressure, or liver function disorders. However, she emphasized that there is no scientific evidence confirming these theories.
“In evidence-based medicine, hemangiomas do not pose any health risk. They do not indicate internal diseases and are not a sign of serious pathology,” the dermatologist explained.
The only issue associated with hemangiomas is cosmetic discomfort. If a person finds them aesthetically unpleasant or irritating, they can be easily removed using modern dermatological procedures. However, removal is not medically necessary unless the individual wishes to do so for personal reasons.
Professor Galyamova also reassured that people should not panic or urgently seek medical attention if such red spots appear on the skin. In most cases, they are harmless and do not require treatment.
As always, if there is uncertainty about a skin change or if a spot begins to change in size, shape, or color, consulting a qualified dermatologist can provide peace of mind.
