The Armenian Apostolic Church has five major feasts known as the “Tabernacle Feasts” (T’aghavar Feasts). These are considered among the most significant celebrations of the Church calendar, as they are connected to key events in the Christian faith.
The five Tabernacle Feasts are:
The Feast of the Nativity and Theophany (January 6),
Holy Resurrection / Easter,
Transfiguration of Christ (Vardavar),
Assumption of the Holy Mother of God,
Elevation of the Holy Cross.
These feasts are traditionally viewed as opportunities for spiritual reflection, renewal, and participation in the life of the Church. They highlight themes such as the Christian understanding of triumph over death, the hope of spiritual rebirth, and the call to live a life guided by faith and moral values.
According to Church teaching, actively taking part in these celebrations and striving to live in accordance with Christian principles are seen as expressions of commitment to faith. This idea is also referenced in the Gospel of John:
“If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him.”
(John 14:23)
Dates of the Feasts
The Feast of the Nativity and Theophany: celebrated annually on January 6
Holy Resurrection / Easter: in 2026, Easter will be observed on April 5
The remaining feast days vary each year, based on the liturgical calendar of the Armenian Apostolic Church. For detailed schedules, believers may refer to official Church publications or diocesan announcements.
