A draft government proposal under public discussion could introduce a mechanism for removing certain inactive or non-operational vehicles from Armenia’s active vehicle registration database.
According to the proposal, vehicles that have shown no recorded activity for an extended period may be classified as inactive and removed from the active registry. The measure is intended to address situations in which vehicles that are no longer in use remain officially registered, potentially creating ongoing administrative obligations for owners.
The draft outlines a number of criteria that may be considered when determining whether a vehicle qualifies for inactive status, including the absence of insurance coverage, technical inspections, tax payments, or other registration-related activity during the specified period.
Officials note that if such a vehicle later becomes active again and its use is documented through legally recognized procedures, it could be restored to the active registry in accordance with applicable regulations.
The proposal is currently undergoing public consultation, and any changes would take effect only after the completion of the legislative review and approval process.
