She lost 232 kg, a kidney, and her boyfriend: the heartbreaking story of one of the world’s heaviest women.

Charity Pierce, once regarded as one of the heaviest women in the world, weighed an astonishing 347 kilograms before making a life-altering decision to turn her life around. Known for her fast-food habits, Charity faced a grim warning: her health was deteriorating rapidly, and her life was at risk. With the encouragement of her daughter and her 22-year-old boyfriend, she joined the reality show My 600-lb Life to reclaim her future.

A 38-year-old Iowa native, Charity battled extreme obesity and lymphedema, a condition that caused severe swelling in her limbs. Her left leg, in particular, became alarmingly enlarged, making movement nearly impossible.

Determined to change, Charity encountered a significant challenge: doctors required her to lose 121 kilograms before she could undergo life-saving gastric band surgery. She gradually shed weight and, upon reaching 226 kilograms, was cleared for the procedure.

The transformation wasn’t easy. Charity, who once consumed thousands of calories daily, transitioned to a strict 1,200-calorie diet of salads and yogurt. This was a stark contrast to her previous meals, which often included two pizzas, multiple sandwiches, doughnuts, popcorn, lasagna, chips, and ice cream.

Through relentless effort, Charity successfully lost 220 kilograms. She adopted a healthier lifestyle with a specialized exercise program, though her journey was not without setbacks. Her daughter, sharing a similar genetic predisposition, gained weight and reached nearly 180 kilograms by the age of 18.

Charity’s personal life also faced challenges. After losing weight, her boyfriend, Tony, ended their relationship, leaving her emotionally distraught. This stress led to a struggle with alcohol, and her relationship with her daughter became strained.

In 2020, Charity faced another battle when she was diagnosed with kidney cancer, resulting in the removal of one kidney. Despite these obstacles, she remained resilient and focused on recovery.

Today, Charity weighs just over 100 kilograms and leads a sober, healthier life. She has a passion for tattoos and has mended her bond with her daughter, who is now married and a mother. Charity takes immense joy in spending time with her grandchild while maintaining her commitment to a balanced lifestyle.
