A Doctor’s Perspective on Long-Term Health

Surgeon and oncologist Mark Gadzyan, PhD in medical sciences, has shared his views on the potential health benefits of reducing added sugar intake after the age of 40. According to the specialist, limiting added sugars may help lower the risk of developing conditions that are increasingly common today, including diabetes, obesity, and certain chronic diseases.

In a post shared on his Telegram channel, Dr. Gadzyan expressed the opinion that avoiding artificially added sweets after the age of 40 — while still consuming natural sources such as fruits and honey in moderation — may have a positive impact on long-term health and overall well-being.

The doctor emphasized that many people hesitate to reduce sweets simply because they fear making dietary changes. He also clarified that he does not encourage eliminating carbohydrates entirely. Instead, his focus is on reducing added sugar, not naturally occurring sugars found in whole foods.

According to Dr. Gadzyan, completely avoiding sugar is unrealistic, as it is present in many everyday products. For this reason, he recommends becoming more attentive to food labels, including those on dairy products and processed foods, to better understand sugar content.
