Doctors Identify a Lesser-Known Symptom Linked to Cancer

Experts from the British organization Cancer Research UK have identified an unusual symptom that may indicate the development of cancer, The Sun reports.

According to scientists, night sweats can be an early warning sign of the disease. If a person wakes up drenched in sweat and later experiences a cough—sometimes accompanied by blood—this may suggest that cancer is developing in the lungs.

Specialists explain that the body may overheat while fighting a tumor, which leads to excessive sweating. This reaction may be linked to infections that are common in lung cancer, as well as to low white blood cell levels caused by radiation therapy or chemotherapy.

In addition to night sweats, experts highlight several other common symptoms of lung cancer. These include changes in cough, shortness of breath, chest pain, recurrent chest infections, loss of appetite, persistent fatigue, and unexplained weight loss.
