Armenia May Declare May 4 a Non-Working Day in 2026

The Government of Armenia plans to declare May 4 of this year a non-working day. The issue has been included in the agenda of the Government’s January 29 session under non-reportable items.

According to the project’s justification, Armenia, as an active participant in the European Political Community (EPC) and an important stakeholder in regional security and cooperation, is preparing to host the 8th EPC Summit. Due to the significance of the event and the unprecedented level of participation for the country—approximately 50 high-level delegations represented by heads of state or organizations—it has become necessary to adjust the working day to ensure effective traffic management in Yerevan.

The proposal is based on Article 19 of the Law of the Republic of Armenia “On Holidays and Memorial Days.”

The adoption of the draft decision does not require amendments to other legal acts and will not result in changes to expenditures or revenues in the state or local self-government budgets.

The draft was prepared by the Office of the Prime Minister of Armenia.

It is proposed to move the working day of May 4, 2026, to Saturday, April 18, 2026.
