

A strong earthquake has been recorded in the Pacific Ocean near the eastern coast of Japan’s Honshu Island.
According to the Altai-Sayan branch of the Unified Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the earthquake occurred on March 26. The epicenter was located approximately 165 kilometers east of the city of Miyako.
Based on preliminary data, the intensity of the tremor at the epicenter was described as destructive. The reported magnitude reached 6.2.
Meanwhile, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) estimated the earthquake’s magnitude at 6.5. According to US seismologists, the quake occurred at a depth of approximately 9.5 kilometers.
