Signs of foot cancer may include deformities or persistent, severe pain, according to Evgeny Cheremushkin, a senior researcher at the Clinical Oncology Institute of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences.
In an interview, the specialist emphasized that this is a rare type of cancer, and early diagnosis can be challenging. The symptoms and progression largely depend on the type of tissue affected and the location of the tumor.
Cheremushkin explained that certain forms, such as bone sarcomas and osteogenic tumors, can be particularly aggressive. The prognosis depends on several factors, including the size of the tumor, the possibility of surgical removal, and whether chemotherapy or radiation therapy is required.
He also noted that detecting cancer in the foot can be especially difficult, as early signs may be subtle. People are advised to pay attention to any unusual changes, including spots or dark lines appearing near the base of the nails.
The expert stressed that if such symptoms persist for more than a month, it is important to seek medical attention for proper evaluation.
