Residents of apartment buildings may face administrative fines for running washing machines at night if they cause noise disturbances.
According to legal expert Ruben Ovsepyan from Kutafin Moscow State Law University, operating a washing machine during nighttime hours can be considered a violation if it produces noticeable noise or strong vibrations.
For example:
In Moscow, fines can reach around 2,000 rubles
In Saint Petersburg, penalties may go up to 5,000 rubles
The issue is often not just loud sound but vibrations transmitted through walls and ceilings, which can disturb neighbors.
Authorities emphasize that nighttime noise regulations apply to all residents, and failure to comply may result in administrative penalties.
