Doctor Warns Some People to Limit Watermelon Consumption

Watermelon is one of the most popular summer foods thanks to its refreshing taste, high water content, and relatively low calorie count. Many people also include it in weight-control diets because of its nutritional properties.

However, physician Olga Sharapova warns that watermelon may not be suitable for everyone and, in some cases, should be consumed carefully or limited.

According to the doctor, people with certain chronic health conditions should pay particular attention to the amount of watermelon they eat. She especially advised moderation for individuals with heart-related conditions.

The specialist also noted that people suffering from kidney stone disease, diarrhea, atherosclerosis, or prostate adenoma may need to reduce watermelon consumption or avoid it depending on medical advice.

Sharapova added that watermelon is best consumed starting from August and in moderate portions. She recommended limiting intake to around 300 grams per day and preferably eating it during the first half of the day.

Health experts recommend consulting a physician before making major dietary changes, especially for people with chronic medical conditions.
