Speaker of Russia’s State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin has expressed support for significantly increasing government fees related to migration and citizenship procedures.
According to Volodin, discussions on the proposed legislative changes are expected to begin next week.
Under the proposal, the state fee for obtaining Russian citizenship could increase nearly twelvefold — from 4,200 rubles to 50,000 rubles.
The fee for obtaining a temporary residence permit is expected to rise from 1,920 rubles to 15,000 rubles, while the cost of a residence permit could increase from 6,000 to 30,000 rubles.
Volodin also stated that the government plans to raise fees for permits allowing companies to hire foreign workers, setting the charge at 15,000 rubles for each foreign specialist employed.
According to the Russian official, the measures are intended to strengthen regulation in the migration sector and generate additional budget revenue estimated at around 15 billion rubles annually.
He added that the State Duma is currently considering ten legislative initiatives related to migration policy, while 22 federal laws in this area have already been adopted since 2024.
