Yerevan City Hall Clarifies Public Transport Fine Amounts Amid Online Rumors

Yerevan City Hall has dismissed online speculation claiming that fines for failing to pay public transport fares would be increased to 20 times the minimum monthly wage.

Responding to media inquiries, municipal officials confirmed that the current fines remain unchanged and continue to apply under the existing regulations.

According to the municipality:

AMD 3,000 – for failing to validate a paid ticket or travel privilege using the electronic validation device.
AMD 10,000 – for traveling without paying the required fare.
AMD 15,000 – for using a discounted or preferential travel card issued to another person.

Meanwhile, Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan recently announced that passengers can now also pay for public transport using Apple Pay and Google Pay, expanding the city’s available contactless payment options.
