Public schools in Yerevan are expected to continue starting classes at 8:15 a.m. when the new academic year begins on September 1, according to information provided by the Yerevan Municipality.
The earlier start time was first introduced on September 1 of last year, replacing the previous 8:30 a.m. schedule. The initiative was intended to help reduce student lateness caused by traffic congestion and to ease morning traffic across the capital.
Since the change was implemented, public opinion has been divided. Some residents believe it has made little difference, while others say the earlier schedule has helped reduce congestion on Yerevan’s busiest roads during the morning rush.
In response to an inquiry, the Yerevan Municipality stated that no changes to the current schedule have been decided at this time. Officials added that if any revisions are made, they will be announced publicly.
As things stand, classes in all public schools in Yerevan are expected to begin at 8:15 a.m. on September 1, unless the municipality announces a change before the start of the school year.
