
A drowning incident was reported at Lake Sevan on August 2, according to preliminary information from Armenian authorities.
At around 1:30 p.m., the Sevan Police Department of Armenia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs received a report that a person had drowned in the «Aragast» beach area of Lake Sevan.
According to Shamshyan.com, rescue personnel from the Sevan Water Rescue Unit responded to the scene. With the assistance of bystanders, rescuers recovered the victim’s body from the lake approximately 15 meters from the shoreline.
A criminal investigation has been initiated to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Police officers at the scene identified the deceased as 24-year-old Mohamed A., a citizen of Egypt.
Authorities have not yet released additional details as the investigation remains ongoing.
