In recent days, a photograph of a woman has been widely circulated online, with claims that she is the mother of the newborn girl who was found abandoned near an apartment building on Halabyan Street in Yerevan.
However, there is currently no official confirmation supporting these claims.
A representative of Armenia’s Investigative Committee was contacted for clarification and said that there have been no new developments in the criminal case concerning the newborn. According to the official information, the child’s parents have not yet been identified.
The incident occurred on August 10, when Yerevan resident Narek Petrosyan discovered a newborn girl in the yard of a residential building on Halabyan Street.
The baby was reportedly found in a severely chilled condition and was subsequently taken to a hospital for medical treatment. Doctors diagnosed the newborn with respiratory insufficiency, but reported that her life was not in danger.
The Investigative Committee has initiated criminal proceedings in connection with the incident, and efforts to establish all circumstances surrounding the case are continuing. So far, authorities have not released official information confirming the identities of either parent.
According to the available information, after the newborn is discharged from the hospital, she is expected to be transferred to a childcare institution.
The baby girl has been named Sose, in honor of Sose Mayrig, a well-known Armenian historical figure.
Until investigators release verified information, claims circulating on social media about the alleged identity of the child’s mother should therefore be treated as unconfirmed.
