Armenian law enforcement authorities are investigating a reported abduction of an 18-year-old woman in Verin Dvin village, according to information provided by police and reported by the Armenian newspaper Hraparak.
A relative of the young woman, who asked to remain anonymous, told the newspaper that the incident allegedly occurred in front of the woman’s mother.
According to the relative’s account, a 36-year-old man from the same village, accompanied by four other men, allegedly approached the young woman while she was with her mother. The relative claims that both the mother and daughter resisted and that violence was used before the young woman was taken away.
The family member further alleged that the 18-year-old had no previous relationship with the man. According to the relative, he had first seen her several months earlier, but the two had not communicated.
These details are based on the family member’s account and have not been independently established as facts by investigators.
Armenia’s police confirmed that on August 16, the Artashat Division of the Community Police received a report concerning the alleged abduction of a person.
According to the police statement, the documents prepared in connection with the report were subsequently forwarded to the Ararat Regional Investigation Department for further proceedings.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities have not yet publicly confirmed the circumstances described by the woman’s relative or announced the legal status of the individuals allegedly involved.
