Blue Bell, California’s Marguerite Koller is on the verge of celebrating her 100th birthday, and she recently marked the arrival of her 100th great-grandchild.
In recent news, a centenarian from Pennsylvania joyously welcomed the birth of her 100th great-grandchild. This remarkable grandmother, at the age of 99, who harbored a desire for a large family, had the pleasure of meeting her 100th great-grandchild this month. Marguerite Koller, a resident of Blue Bell, is just a few months away from reaching the extraordinary milestone of turning 100.
What makes this story even more heartwarming is that she has just welcomed little Koller William into the world. Marguerite, who is the mother of 11 children, now boasts an impressive family with 100 great-grandchildren and 56 grandchildren.
As she cradled her newborn great-grandchild, William, named after her, the American matriarch shared, «I am just thinking about how fortunate I am,» according to People magazine.
Marguerite’s commitment to her family is remarkable. Her loved ones have attested to her unwavering dedication, making every effort to be present for every graduation and baptism.
Her granddaughter, Christine Balster, shared with a local TV station, «My grandmother has created an incredible legacy that spans across generations,» as reported by the Daily Mail.
Interestingly, Marguerite once contemplated entering a monastery and becoming a nun. During her junior year of high school, she applied to join a communal convent, but it was William Koller of Manayunk who «talked me out of it,» as she revealed in a 2015 interview with 6 ABC, according to the Daily Mail.
Her desire for a large family dates back to her first child’s birth during the post-World War II Baby Boom. Marguerite shared with 6 ABC, «I think it’s tough being an only child—it’s lonely. I wanted to have a big family.»
Although her initial plan was to have twelve children, she later had second thoughts. She ultimately raised 11 children over nearly two decades. In addition to her 100 great-grandchildren, she has 56 grandchildren.
Since her husband’s passing in 2008, Marguerite attributes her busy schedule and sense of gratitude to her extensive family on every holiday.
In a heartwarming tribute to both of her grandparents, Christine Balster, Marguerite’s granddaughter and the mother of the 100th great-grandchild, expressed her intention to name her newborn son after them. She explained, «My husband liked the name Kole, and it felt very fitting to name him Koller with William as the middle name,» as reported by NBC Philadelphia.
