A magnitude 5.2 earthquake has been recorded off the coast of Russia’s Kamchatka Peninsula, according to Russian scientists.

The epicenter of the earthquake was located approximately 114 kilometers from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, the administrative center of Kamchatka Krai.

Kamchatka is located along the Pacific Ring of Fire, one of the world’s most seismically active regions. Earthquakes occur frequently in the area due to the movement of tectonic plates.

Although a magnitude 5.2 earthquake can produce noticeable shaking, its effects depend on several factors, including depth, distance from populated areas and local geological conditions.

The reported seismic event has not been linked to any confirmed destruction or casualties.

Authorities have reported no tsunami danger following the earthquake near Kamchatka.
