Barry was discovered deceased in her residence on the Upper East Side of Manhattan on Monday morning, according to information provided to the NYT by two individuals familiar with the situation.
A former federal judge in New Jersey, Barry was married to John Barry, an experienced trial and appellate lawyer. She retired from her judicial position in 2019 amidst ongoing investigations into the Trump family’s alleged involvement in tax fraud and financial transactions.
Despite a close relationship between the former president and his sister, tensions arose after the release of a memoir by their niece, Mary L. Trump. The memoir, which included audio recordings of Maryanne Trump Barry expressing critical views of her brother, added strain to their familial connections.
