The house appeared dark, as expected at night, but deeper inside the hallway, there was movement. One of them paused, squinted — and froze. Eyes were staring back at him from the darkness. Large, calm, confident eyes. Not human eyes. Animal eyes.

Out of the shadows, with a furious growl, an enormous Alabai (Central Asian Shepherd Dog) lunged at them. The dog raced across the wooden floor with astonishing speed and reached the window in seconds. One of the thieves didn’t have time to react — he fell backward, while the other bolted but stumbled.
The old woman, awakened by the noise, didn’t panic. She grabbed the phone and calmly called the police.
“Yes, I have burglars. But don’t worry — the dog is already taking care of them,” she said calmly into the receiver.

By the time the patrol arrived, one thief was lying on the ground with a torn leg, while the other was cowering in a corner, pressed against the wall, too afraid to move.
