The Law on “Holidays and Remembrance Days” defines all official holidays and days of commemoration celebrated in the Republic of Armenia.
According to the relevant article of the law, New Year and Christmas holidays in Armenia are observed from December 31 to January 2, inclusive.
January 6 is celebrated as the Feast of the Nativity and Theophany (Armenian Christmas), and this day is also a non-working day.
The day of remembrance following the Feast of the Nativity and Theophany, known as Merelots (Day of the Dead), is observed on January 7. This day is considered a working day, unless the Government of Armenia decides otherwise by a separate resolution.
In addition, according to the Labor Code, the duration of the working day preceding a public holiday or remembrance day is shortened by one hour, except in cases where employees already work in shortened or part-time schedules.
As of now, no official decision has been issued regarding non-working and remembrance days for the year 2026.
