Unusually Warm Air Masses Expected to Reach the North Pole

Unusually warm air masses are expected to reach the North Pole region in the coming week, according to Levon Azizyan, Director of the Center for Hydrometeorology and Monitoring.

Numerical weather models indicate that at the 850 hPa pressure level—approximately 1,500 meters above sea level—air temperatures could rise to as high as +3°C (37°F). Meteorologists note that this represents an exceptionally high value for this latitude and time of year.

Record-high temperatures have already been observed in coastal areas of Greenland, from where these warm air masses are expected to continue moving northward toward the Arctic region.

Experts emphasize that such temperature anomalies are rare for the area and are closely monitored as part of ongoing atmospheric observation and climate analysis efforts.
