Maintaining liver health and reducing the risk of cirrhosis requires proper nutrition and daily care. According to well-known Russian doctor and TV presenter Alexander Myasnikov, alcohol and infections are not the only factors that can negatively affect the liver. Certain dietary habits and foods may also play a role.
Speaking on the “Doctor Myasnikov” program on the Russia 1 TV channel, the physician noted that modern medicine currently has limited options for treating liver cancer, focusing primarily on symptom management rather than a complete cure.
To support liver health, Dr. Myasnikov emphasizes the importance of avoiding alcohol. He also recommends including fiber-rich foods in the diet, particularly fruits and vegetables. At the same time, he advises limiting or excluding processed meats and baked sweets, and reducing sugar intake as much as possible.
“Remember one simple truth,” the doctor stated. “It is not only alcohol that harms the liver, but also excessive consumption of easily digestible, calorie-dense foods.”
Dr. Myasnikov also noted that moderate coffee consumption may have potential benefits for liver health. According to him, coffee has been associated with a lower risk of cirrhosis and certain complications in people with chronic hepatitis. In addition, he recommends limiting fried meat and incorporating fish into the diet as a healthier protein source.
