Severe Winter Conditions Expected as Cyclone Reaches Armenia

Due to the penetration of a cyclone from the Mediterranean Sea, precipitation is expected across most regions of Armenia starting from the afternoon and evening of January 13, continuing through the night of January 13–14, during the daytime on January 14, and in some areas on January 15, according to the Ministry of Environment of Armenia.

On January 13, daytime precipitation in foothill and valley zones is expected in the form of rain and sleet, while during the night of January 13–14, snowfall is forecast throughout the entire country.

In the evening of January 13 and during the night of January 14, snowfall may be heavy in certain areas. In some mountainous regions, strong winds of 15–18 m/s, snowstorms, and reduced horizontal visibility are expected.

As the cyclone moves through the region, air temperatures will gradually decrease by 10–13°C between January 14 and 16.

Due to the sharp drop in temperature, icy conditions (black ice) are expected on roads across the republic during the night and morning hours of January 13–14, creating potentially hazardous driving conditions.

Residents and drivers are advised to remain cautious, monitor weather updates, and take necessary safety measures during this period.
