Armenian Government Proposes June 23 as Public Servant Day

The Office of the Prime Minister has submitted a draft proposal for public discussion that would officially designate June 23 as Public Servant Day in Armenia.

The proposal was published on the e-draft.am platform and suggests adding the date to the law on holidays and memorial days in the Republic of Armenia.

According to the explanatory note attached to the draft, various state institutions in Armenia already have separate professional days established by government decisions. These include the Day of the National Security Service Employee, Police Day, Prosecutor’s Office Employee Day, Rescuer’s Day, and several others.

The government believes that introducing one unified Public Servant Day would better reflect the current agenda of developing a modern and coordinated public service system in the country.

Officials say the initiative aims to recognize and encourage the contribution of public servants to the country’s stable development, the effective delivery of public services, and the implementation of new ideas and professional experience.

The draft also notes that on December 20, 2002, the United Nations General Assembly proclaimed June 23 as United Nations Public Service Day through Resolution 57/277, encouraging member states to organize events highlighting the role of public service in development.
