Some songs just pull you into their orbit, you just have to sing along regardless of whether you are part of the chorus line-up or in the audience.
It’s hard to know if this Christmas recital by the pre-schoolers from the Saint Elizabeth Child Care Centre in Jersey City, New Jersey was for the kids or for the parents. But one thing is certain, once it got underway it looks like everyone had a great time.
Christmas Pre-School ConcertThe line-up of little children looked a bit nervous to start with, then they soon started swaying in time to the music, mostly, and bopping to the catchy Christmas tune, “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree”.
They quickly got with the spirit of it, waving their little arms up in the air as their routine progressed. Clearly enjoying themselves, many of the cheeky youngsters even started singing along with great merriment. Once they all got going, their big, happy grins stole the show.
“Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree”, is a popular Christmas song, written by songwriter Johnny Marks in 1958 for a 13-year-old vocalist called Brenda Lee. She was a musical prodigy and singing star from the age of ten. She made this song an instant hit and it quickly became a holiday season favorite. It featured in the 1990 movie “Home Alone”, when Kevin used it for his fake Christmas party — do you remember? Catch it on on Netflix again. It’s Christmas after all.)
Watch the video and see the kids bring home the performance with a big finish, with huge smiles and all their little arms raised high above their bright, happy little faces. You will feel the Christmas cheer yourself when you find yourself singing and bopping along with the tune.
