Consider Simon Cowell’s son, Eric, for instance. If you had asked me about his age just last week, I might have guessed he was four or perhaps five years old. The point I’m trying to make is that in my eyes, he’s still a very young child because, well, it feels like only a few short years ago…

Except, it wasn’t. Not even close. You see, Eric Cowell, the son of Simon and his fiancée Lauren Silverman, is now nine years old!

What’s more, he recently made a rare appearance on the red carpet for the America’s Got Talent final, serving as a poignant reminder not only of his existence but also of how close he is to leaving childhood behind.

It feels like just yesterday that Simon Cowell, the renowned talent show judge and music mogul, announced that he was going to be a father for the first time. In February 2014, Simon and Lauren Silverman welcomed Eric, with Simon confessing, «I never knew how much love and pride I would feel.»

In truth, we haven’t seen much of Eric since then. It appears that his famous father has chosen to shield him from the harsh glare of the spotlight.

Perhaps, this is why Eric’s recent appearance on the red carpet for the AGT final has generated so much excitement.

As reported by Hello!, Eric posed for photographs alongside the winners of Season 18, Hurricane, wearing a pair of denim jeans and a casually striped polo shirt for the occasion.

He was also captured standing between his parents, and I must admit, I was taken aback by how mature he looks now!

Earlier this month, Simon, who boasts an astonishing estimated fortune of nearly £500 million, revealed that he envisions «training up» Eric to be the heir to his business empire someday.

Speaking to the Mirror, Simon said, «Eric is a little version of me. When he’s misbehaving a bit, I do say, ‘Remember, Daddy has already been through all of this. I’m encouraging him to explore the world of show business.»
