Simon Cowell trades life of fame for new role as stay-at-home dad – wife now runs his company

Once a fixture on Saturday night TV and a constant tabloid presence, Simon Cowell’s career has taken a new and intriguing turn.

Back in the prime days of «The X Factor,» when the show commanded an audience of over 14 million viewers, Simon Cowell was often spotted wining and dining with celebrities, followed relentlessly by the paparazzi. He was known for his close connections with big names in entertainment and media, frequently hosting them at his London mansion for lavish dinners and events.

However, the 63-year-old impresario has recently sold his £57 million London residence and made a move to the countryside, suggesting a transition away from the entertainment industry’s frenetic pace.

According to these reports, Cowell is now spending less time with high-profile associates and has few television commitments outside of his current role as a judge on ITV’s «Britain’s Got Talent.»

This shift appears to be driven by Cowell’s desire to be more present in the life of his nine-year-old son, Eric. This sentiment may have intensified following a serious e-bike accident at his California home in 2020, which resulted in a broken back and a grueling six-hour surgical procedure.

An insider familiar with Cowell’s situation revealed, «Simon’s trajectory has undergone a complete transformation. He used to actively court media attention, with even his casual outings becoming front-page news. But now, he has retreated into anonymity, keeping his whereabouts undisclosed.»

The source continued, «He once thrived on being a subject of discussion and intrigue, but now he shies away from the spotlight, preferring the comfort of home with Eric while Lauren manages the remaining aspects of his business.»

In January 2022, Cowell chose to downsize his company, Syco, which led to the departure of a significant portion of his staff. Individuals close to the astute entrepreneur, who initially founded the company as a record label in 2004, revealed his intention to focus solely on his role as a television personality.

There have been notable changes in the landscape of reality TV, with ITV, the network that aired «The X Factor,» shifting towards producing more compassionate reality shows like «The Masked Singer.» This change is especially significant in light of recent controversies that have cast shadows over Cowell’s shows.

One of his former «Britain’s Got Talent» co-stars, David Walliams, faced criticism for using offensive language towards an elderly auditionee and making explicit comments about a female contestant during filming.

Furthermore, there have been allegations of sexual assault from a former contestant during her time on the show, with Cowell expressing his shock and sorrow at the accusations.

As for Cowell’s decision to step back from the limelight, it marks a significant chapter in the career of this once ubiquitous entertainment titan.
