Michael Ketterer made a triumphant return to America’s Got Talent, and the anticipation was well worth it!
You may recall that Michael initially appeared on the show early in the season and was awarded the second Golden Buzzer of AGT Season 13.
Michael, a pediatric mental health specialist and the father of six children, some of whom were adopted from foster care, is someone who should be embraced by America not just for his talents but for his incredible character.
Not only is Michael a genuinely good man, but he also possesses an extraordinary vocal range. During his audition, he left the judges in awe, so much so that Simon Cowell sent him straight through to the live performances, bypassing the Judges’ Cut round where contestants were typically judged and some eliminated.
Simon couldn’t contain his praise, and he had to express his admiration for Michael even before his second performance on AGT. His enthusiasm was overflowing.
«He is incredible; he is a wonderful human being as well as a fantastic vocalist. I’m overjoyed. I’m overjoyed right now. I truly, truly am!»
For his second AGT performance, Michael chose «Us» by James Bay, a song filled with emotion, and Michael’s voice elevated the intensity of the piece.
By the time he finished singing, the entire audience and all four judges were on their feet, applauding him.
When it came to offering feedback, Tyra Banks turned to Simon first, but the judge struggled to speak as he was overwhelmed with emotion. Tyra, however, wasn’t about to let him off the hook and encouraged him to share his feelings.
«Oh my god, Michael, look at me. Oh my gosh. As a father, I understand why—I can’t imagine what you’ve done, let alone being on this program. You desperately need it, and you’re a very unique individual. I’m not sure what it is about you!»
Tyra then commended Simon for being willing to show his vulnerable side to the viewers at home and the audience, highlighting a softer, more emotional side of Simon that has emerged as a result of his experiences as a father.
