An Australian model is grappling with job prospects, and she attributes this challenge to the fact that her body is adorned with tattoos covering a staggering 99% of her skin. The media has predominantly fixated on Queensland-born Amber Luke’s tattoos and various body modifications.
Amber has invested nearly $250,000 in her appearance, earning her the nickname «Dragon Girl.» Yet, despite this substantial investment, she appears to face difficulties in securing employment.
Despite Australia’s overall progressive nature, Amber finds herself struggling to secure a job. She opened up about her experiences on the Robin, Terry & Kip radio show in Brisbane, stating, «I am not going to sugar coat it, it has limited my employment options but that’s okay. Because the way I see it, I don’t want to work for a company that’s shallow-minded and can’t look past my image. They won’t look at my work ethic, they won’t look at my morals or my values, or what I have to bring to the table.»
Unfortunately, people have not been shy about expressing their opinions, and Amber acknowledges the diverse definitions of beauty in various cultures. However, what truly perturbs her is when individuals publicly voice their harsh judgments about her appearance, labeling her as «ugly» or asserting that she has «ruined» herself. Such unsolicited comments are distressing to her, given that they come with no accountability.
The tattooed model emphasizes that her body modifications have caused no harm to anyone. Despite her fans’ pleas for her to cease further tattooing, she feels accomplished and justifies the costs of her physical transformations, asserting her resilience.
Nevertheless, her journey has not been without pain. Amber reveals that tears streamed down her face as she underwent the eye tattooing process, an experience etched in her memory as she later inked the image onto her chest. While this experience initially dissuaded her from further body modifications, she has since undergone additional transformations, including butt lifts and breast augmentation.
Amber Luke has undergone extensive surgeries, and she shared a pre-transformation photo in 2020, which created a significant buzz on Instagram. Her caption eloquently described her transformation journey, stating, «We’ve all got to start somewhere. This was me at 18 years old. I was so catatonically depressed, suicidal, and was a walking dead girl. I was numb. I hated myself a majority of the time — that hatred ran deep. It tormented me. Now, I’ve totally transformed myself into someone I’m proud of being. I’m a strong woman who knows exactly what she wants and who she is.»
