Fans all around the world are mourning the loss of Matthew Perry, who passed away at the age of 54 over the weekend.
Matthew Perry was most famous for his role as Chandler Bing on the long-running sitcom Friends, and he shared a close bond with his co-stars.
In the wake of the actor’s passing, one of his Friends co-stars has reportedly expressed interest in adopting Perry’s dog.
Matthew Perry’s death is heartbreaking for many reasons, including the fact that he left behind his cherished companion, a dog named Alfred.
Perry introduced his beloved doodle mix to the world in January 2021 with an Instagram photo that charmed his fans: «Who’s cuter? Don’t answer,» the actor humorously captioned the post.
After Perry’s death, it’s clear that Alfred, like many dogs, is likely mourning the loss of his owner. Dogs are known for their emotional intelligence and often appear to comprehend when their owners pass away, sometimes even mourning at their gravesites.
It remains uncertain who is currently caring for Alfred in the aftermath of Perry’s passing, but one of Perry’s Friends co-stars has shown interest in providing a home for the dog.
According to a source close to the actress, Lisa Kudrow, who portrayed Phoebe on the iconic sitcom, is considering adopting Alfred following Perry’s funeral.
«Lisa and the rest of the cast will be there for his funeral,» the source revealed. «Lisa is also considering taking in his beloved dog Alfred.»
Perry’s death has reportedly left Kudrow and others in the cast puzzled. Although the actor had battled alcohol and opiate addiction during his career, he had recently achieved sobriety.
Perry was discovered in his hot tub, with no illicit drugs found at the scene, only prescribed antidepressants and anti-anxiety medications. While an official cause of death has not been determined, his co-stars speculate that his medication may have played a role.
The cast of Friends shared an exceptionally close bond both on and off the screen, and Perry’s co-stars supported him throughout his struggles with substance abuse.
«It’s a terrible illness, and he has a particularly challenging form of it,» Kudrow told the New York Times last year. «What hasn’t changed is his determination to keep moving forward, to keep fighting, and to keep living.»
«I love Matthew. We are family. I’m pretty sure I’m going to conclude this with ‘I’ll be there for you,’ but it’s true. I’ll be there for him always.»
While it remains uncertain whether Kudrow will adopt Alfred, it would be a touching way for her to honor her late Friends co-star and ensure the well-being of his beloved dog.
Rest in peace, Matthew Perry. Please share this story in remembrance of the actor.
