It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Maryanne Trump Barry, the esteemed elder sister of former President Donald J. Trump. Maryanne, a woman of remarkable stature, lived a life rich with purpose and impact before her peaceful departure at the age of 86.
On November 13th, Maryanne was discovered in her New York City apartment, prompting the swift response of first responders. Despite their valiant efforts, she had already transitioned, leaving behind a legacy steeped in service and dedication.
Maryanne’s illustrious career was defined by her tenure as a senior judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. Her unwavering commitment to justice and her invaluable contributions to the legal landscape will forever endure. Initially appointed by President Ronald Reagan to the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey in 1983, she later received an appointment to the Court of Appeals from President Bill Clinton in 1999.
In her later years, Maryanne faced challenges with grace and resilience. While weathering an investigation into alleged fraudulent tax and financial dealings involving her father and siblings, she chose to gracefully retire from her position in 2019, despite no conclusive findings from the investigation.
Although the details of Maryanne’s relationship with her younger brother, Donald, remain private at the time of her passing, it’s noteworthy that she had shared her concerns about his principles with her niece, Mary. Regardless of any differences, Maryanne’s passing marks the third sibling lost by Donald Trump, and our thoughts and prayers are with the Trump family during this trying period.
Maryanne Trump Barry’s dedication to public service and her steadfast commitment to justice have left an indelible imprint on our nation’s legal framework. Her tenure as a judge exemplified expertise, passion, and integrity, underscored by her appointments by two different presidents.
As we mourn Maryanne Trump Barry’s departure, let us also celebrate her life and the profound influence she exerted on the legal community. Her graceful navigation of adversity and unwavering adherence to principles will continue to inspire us to pursue justice and uphold integrity.
May her soul find eternal peace.
