Judges Laugh As Band Sings “Les Miserables” Classic, But The Boys Prove Them Wrong

Occasionally, an audition on one of the «Got Talent» shows is so astonishingly brilliant that you can watch it repeatedly and still get chills every time. This performance is one of those unforgettable moments.

Five young men stepped onto the stage of ‘Britain’s Got Talent,’ proudly introducing themselves as Collabro. When the judges learned they had only been together for a month, Simon Cowell rolled his eyes, clearly skeptical, thinking, «Here we go again, another boy band tryout.» Judge Alesha Dixon asked, «What makes you think you can win ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ after just a month together?» Their confident response: «Natural chemistry, I think.» This prompted judge Amanda Holden to bow her head, hiding a smile.

«Lovely,» Alesha said, «then take it away.» And take it away they did. Beginning with a powerful and beautiful solo intro, they launched into ‘Stars’ from ‘Les Misérables.’ Another member followed with a strong solo, and then the chorus left jaws dropping. Sarcastic smiles turned into expressions of awe. What followed was a goosebump-inducing performance, earning spontaneous applause and a standing ovation even before they finished their song.

Never before had so many judges been humbled by a single performance. After initially sniggering at the group, Amanda Holden probably summed it up best, saying, «That was bloody brilliant.» Like a fairytale, the one-month-old group’s «natural chemistry» propelled them to the finals, where they won ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ in 2014.
