Armenia’s Anti-Corruption Committee of the Republic of Armenia has announced the initiation of criminal proceedings concerning alleged vote-buying activities linked to a Russia-based blogger identified only by the initials M.B.
According to the committee, investigative measures have uncovered sufficient factual data suggesting that the blogger allegedly promised services and other benefits to hundreds of Armenian citizens residing in the Russian Federation in exchange for participating in Armenia’s upcoming parliamentary elections.
The Anti-Corruption Committee stated that a criminal case has been opened and that all legal measures are being undertaken to:
Identify Armenian citizens residing abroad who may have received the alleged benefits;
Establish the full circumstances of the case;
Apply legal liability where appropriate under Armenian law.
The committee also called on citizens who have received, been offered, or have information regarding alleged vote-buying schemes to cooperate with investigators by providing any relevant information and evidence.
Officials further urged the public to refrain from participating in any activities related to vote-buying, influencing voters’ free expression of will, or other violations of electoral legislation.
The investigation is ongoing, and no final judicial conclusions have been reached at this stage. As with any criminal proceeding, allegations remain subject to verification through the legal process.
