The U.S. Embassy in Armenia has provided information about L-1A, L-1B and L-2 visas, which are used for intracompany transfers to the United States and eligible accompanying family members.
L-1A visas are intended for executives and managers transferring to a U.S. office of a qualifying organization. Applicants generally must have worked abroad for a qualifying parent company, subsidiary, affiliate or branch for at least one continuous year within the previous three years. The U.S. position must qualify as managerial or executive.
L-1B visas are intended for employees transferring to the United States to perform work requiring specialized knowledge. The same general one-year foreign-employment requirement applies. For blanket petitions, an L-1B beneficiary must qualify as a specialized knowledge professional.
The employer generally sponsors the L-1 worker through an individual petition or, when the organization qualifies, an approved Blanket L petition.
L-2 visas are available to eligible spouses and unmarried children under the age of 21 who accompany or join an L-1 visa holder. They are dependent visas rather than independent employment visas.
For Armenian nationals, the U.S. Department of State currently lists both L-1 and L-2 visas as multiple-entry visas with validity of up to 60 months, subject to individual eligibility and adjudication.
