Armenia has expanded the group of citizens eligible to receive compensation for deposits held in the former USSR Savings Bank, Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Arsen Torosyan announced in a video published on social media.
According to the minister, in 2025, compensation was provided to eligible depositors born on or before December 31, 1942.
Under the government’s new decision, the eligibility threshold has been extended by two years. In 2026, citizens born on or before December 31, 1944 will be eligible to receive compensation for their deposits.
Torosyan said the same calculation formulas that were previously in effect will continue to be used. The change is expected to affect approximately 5,000–6,000 citizens.
To receive the compensation, eligible citizens must apply to a territorial center of Armenia’s Unified Social Service with an identification document.
Applicants should also have their social security card or Public Services Number, the depositor’s savings book if available, and a certificate from VTB Armenia CJSC containing information on the depositor’s bank account records as of June 10, 1993.
Any other relevant documents should also be submitted if available.
