Veolia Water CJSC has issued a statement responding to information circulating online that urges residents to avoid drinking tap water because of alleged mercury contamination.
According to the company, the circulating information does not apply to the water supply within Veolia Water’s service area.
Veolia Water said the information concerning mercury relates exclusively to the village of Tsav in Armenia’s Syunik Province, which is outside the company’s service area.
The company urged the public not to spread unverified information and to rely on information provided by official sources.
Veolia Water’s statement comes amid the circulation of social media posts warning residents against using tap water over alleged mercury contamination.
