An unusual incident involving a teacher and a 14-year-old student has been reported at a secondary school in Armenia’s Ararat Province.
According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, police in Masis received information about the incident at approximately 3:40 PM on September 10. The alleged incident itself occurred the previous day, September 9.
Preliminary information indicates that at around 1:00 PM, a ninth-grade student was playing a hand game known as “Chingachung” during a geography lesson.
The 59-year-old teacher, a resident of Ararat Province, reportedly noticed the student playing during class. She allegedly approached the teenager and struck the student once in the face and once on the back, causing physical pain.
Police officers conducted investigative measures following the report. Documents related to the incident were subsequently prepared and forwarded to the Masis Investigation Division of the Ararat Regional Investigation Department of Armenia’s Investigative Committee.
The circumstances of the incident are subject to investigation.
Under the presumption of innocence, a person suspected or accused of a criminal offense is considered innocent unless proven guilty in accordance with the law by a final court judgment.
