The judges and audience of America’s Got Talent were left stunned by an “unpredictable” audition from an 88-year-old exotic dancer. Penny Starr Sr., who proudly calls herself America’s oldest burlesque performer, took the stage and instantly became a national sensation.
Hailing from Palm Bay, Florida, Penny graced the AGT stage dressed in dazzling red, white, and blue feathers. With a playful sparkle in her eye, she declared, “I want to give America a real show—a performance full of energy and excitement!”
During her introduction, Simon Cowell curiously asked if she was single, to which Penny humorously revealed that she had been widowed six times. When asked if she would consider walking down the aisle again, she quipped, “Yes—but breaking them in takes time.”
For her performance, Penny chose the patriotic tune You’re a Grand Old Flag. As she confidently began shedding layers of clothing in true burlesque fashion, the judges erupted with delight. Host Terry Crews enthusiastically joined in on the fun, showering the stage with red, white, and blue confetti in celebration of her fearless act.
Sofia Vergara couldn’t contain her admiration, exclaiming, “Penny, I want to be you when I grow up!” Meanwhile, supermodel Heidi Klum offered her full support for the lively performer.
Simon, ever the flirt, engaged Penny with playful banter before posing a bold question: “If you advance, will we be seeing even fewer clothes next time?” Without hesitation, Penny confirmed that she’d be happy to take things up a notch.
Judge Howie Mandel chimed in excitedly, “I want to see more!” Penny’s charm and confidence earned her four yes votes, moving her to the next round. However, with only 54 acts able to progress out of 138, her journey on America’s Got Talent ultimately came to an end.
