After more than 35 years, Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos say goodbye to the live studio

The set of Live with Kelly and Mark was filled with emotion as the long-running daytime show recorded its final episode at its iconic Upper West Side location before relocating to a new downtown studio. On April 1, the last taping took place at the cherished space.

For 37 years, the studio at 7 Lincoln Square—on the corner of 67th Street and Columbus Avenue—served as the show’s home. It was the backdrop for many beloved hosting duos over the decades, beginning with Regis Philbin and Kathie Lee Gifford.

Since 2001, Kelly Ripa has remained a constant presence through a rotating cast of co-hosts, including Michael Strahan and Ryan Seacrest, following Philbin’s departure in 2011. Today, she shares the spotlight with her husband, Mark Consuelos, who officially joined the show in April 2023.

Despite being a recent addition, Consuelos reflected with Ripa in an interview with PEOPLE about how meaningful the studio has been to their family.

“This is where our kids spent so much of their childhood,” Consuelos said. “Even when they were babies, they’d hang out backstage and stop by to see their mom.”

Now parents to three grown children—Michael (27), Lola (23), and Joaquin (22)—Ripa and Consuelos both expressed deep gratitude for the flexibility the show offered during those early years.

“I had my children during a time when maternity leave wasn’t really a thing,” Ripa noted. “But I was lucky. I could be both a full-time mother and a full-time worker because the hours of live morning TV made it possible. That kind of support is rare, and I never took it for granted.”

The studio also holds special meaning for their relationship. Before they married, Ripa and Consuelos had split in 1996—just before they were both invited to appear as surprise guests on Live with Regis and Kathie Lee for a Mother’s Day tribute honoring a fan of All My Children.

Though they considered backing out, both ended up on set—an unexpected reunion that reignited their romance. The next day, Consuelos proposed. Not long after, they flew to Las Vegas and tied the knot.

Live with Kelly and Mark is among the final ABC programs transitioning to 7 Hudson Square, the newly renovated New York City headquarters of The Walt Disney Company.

The sleek new facility—named The Robert A. Iger Building—is already home to The View and The Tamron Hall Show. By the end of the year, Good Morning America is also slated to join them at the downtown location, marking a new chapter for ABC’s daytime lineup.
