Status Update: Will January 7 Be a Non-Working Day in Armenia?

On January 6, the Armenian Apostolic Church celebrates the Feast of the Holy Nativity and Epiphany, which commemorates both the birth and baptism of Jesus Christ. This date is one of the most significant events in the Armenian Church calendar.

Until the amendments made in 2020 to the Law on Holidays and Remembrance Days of the Republic of Armenia, the day following this feast — Merekots (Memorial Day) — was traditionally considered a non-working day.

Currently, a working day may still be declared non-working or moved to another date by a Government decision if needed. However, for this year, there has been no official announcement yet about whether January 7, the Merekots Memorial Day, will be designated as a non-working day.

Residents are advised to follow official updates and announcements for confirmation.
