Doctor and TV host Alexander Myasnikov has listed illnesses that usually resolve on their own, according to a post on his Telegram channel.
“The common cold typically goes away within a week. This applies to most viral diseases, including influenza. We cannot guarantee an effect on the virus itself — we only treat complications and relieve symptoms. Acute respiratory infections, flu, COVID-19, viral sinusitis, tonsillitis, bronchitis,” Myasnikov wrote.
He also named conditions that do not go away on their own and require only symptomatic treatment rather than a full cure. These include tinnitus, osteoarthritis, non-infectious cystitis, prostatitis, tension headaches, and several other chronic conditions.
According to the doctor, in Western countries patients with such symptoms are usually informed about the real nature of their condition and are not prescribed unnecessary medications or excessive medical tests. He noted that in some cases doctors prescribe additional examinations even when they understand that this approach serves more as a psychological reassurance rather than an evidence-based medical necessity.
