Archpriest Zakaria Baghumyan, Director of the Christian Education Center of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, has clarified that there is no official ritual in the Armenian Apostolic Church for blessing a salty biscuit.
According to Father Zakaria, this practice belongs to the folk traditions associated with the Feast of St. Sarkis. Therefore, he emphasized that searching for deep theological meaning or spiritual significance in this custom is unnecessary.
He advised believers to visit a church dedicated to St. Sarkis, participate in the Divine Liturgy, and receive a blessing instead.
“Love and be loved,” the priest added.
