According to the specialist, within one month of reducing or avoiding added sugar, the body may begin to recover. The first noticeable changes are often seen in the skin. During this period, skin may appear clearer and more radiant, with improved texture and fewer visible imperfections.
Excluding sugar from the diet may also have a positive impact on dental health, as teeth can appear healthier. Mood stability may improve as well, since sugar consumption is associated with fluctuations in blood glucose levels. In addition, digestion may benefit, as excessive intake of sweets has been linked to an increased risk of irritable bowel symptoms.
While glucose serves as fuel for the brain, eliminating added sugar does not impair brain function. On the contrary, some people report feeling more energetic.
