Cyclone Brings Snow, Rain and Icy Roads to Armenia on March 16

A cyclone approaching Armenia from the Mediterranean region will bring precipitation across most parts of the country on March 16.

According to meteorological forecasts, snow is expected in mountainous areas, while mixed snow and rain or rainfall will occur in foothill and valley regions. Significant snowfall is expected in several areas, particularly in Shirak, Lori, the highlands of Tavush, as well as the mountainous regions of Aragatsotn, Kotayk, Vayots Dzor, Syunik and Gegharkunik.

In some places the snowfall may be intense and accompanied by blizzards, low horizontal visibility and icy roads, which could make driving conditions more difficult.

Across Armenia, precipitation is expected on March 16, during the night of March 17, and again on March 20. However, dry weather is forecast for the daytime of March 17 and for March 18–19.

The wind will be north-eastern at 2–5 m/s. Meanwhile, daytime temperatures are expected to gradually rise by 5–8°C between March 16 and 19.

In Yerevan, rain is expected on March 16, during the night of March 17 and again on March 20, while dry weather is forecast for the daytime of March 17 and on March 18–19.
