Doctor Highlights Night-Time Signs That May Be Linked to Diabetes

Diabetes can often develop without obvious symptoms, which means many people become aware of the condition only at a later stage, according to neurologist and physiotherapist Andrey Galkin. He has drawn attention to several less noticeable signs that tend to appear primarily at night.

One of the most common indicators, the doctor explained, is frequent urination during the night. This may occur as the body attempts to eliminate excess sugar. Persistent thirst can appear for the same reason.

Muscle tightness and pain in the legs during sleep may also be associated with elevated blood sugar levels. In individuals who are overweight, night-time breathing disturbances such as sleep apnea may occur, leading to frequent awakenings and a sensation of shortness of breath.

The doctor added that drops in blood glucose levels may sometimes be accompanied by heavy sweating, vivid dreams, and headaches upon waking.
