The contract serviceman David Armeni Manukyan, who was found dead on February 7, was 22 years old. He was originally from the village of Bagratashen in Tavush region. This information was confirmed to NEWS.am by the head of the Bagratashen administrative district, Sargis Antonyan, who noted that just two days before the incident, David had been at home.
“David was serving under the ‘Defender of the Homeland’ program. He had more than one year left until the end of his service. He was a very calm and well-mannered young man, even greeting people shyly. We have never seen or heard anything bad about him. The command also says he was a very good serviceman. We do not understand what could have caused this to happen. Two or three days before the incident, he was at home and had only recently returned to his position. I have not been able to speak with his parents; I only saw David’s father, who was in a very bad condition and could not even say a word,” said the head of the community.
Sargis Antonyan also mentioned that David lived in the village with his parents, grandmother, and younger sister. His father works as a taxi driver, and his mother is engaged in making and selling cakes.
The funeral of David Manukyan will take place on February 11.
It should be recalled that on February 7, the Ministry of Defense issued a statement reporting that the body of contract serviceman David Armeni Manukyan from a military unit of the Ministry of Defense had been found. An investigation is underway to fully clarify the circumstances of the incident.
Later, the Investigative Committee reported that a criminal case has been initiated in connection with the death of the contract serviceman.
