Nutritionist Names the Most Dangerous Food for the Liver

The liver has no pain receptors, which means it does not “signal” poor nutrition the way the stomach or intestines do. As a result, people may not realize that their diet is harming their liver and may not feel the need to change their eating habits.

To protect liver health, nutritionist Alexey Kabanov advises eliminating just one product from the diet — and, according to him, it is even more harmful to the liver than alcohol.

Kabanov explains that sugar is the most damaging food for the liver. It plays a key role in the development of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), one of the most common liver diagnoses. When sugar is consumed together with animal fats, the harmful effect on the liver becomes even stronger.

One of the most dangerous combinations leading to cirrhosis and liver tumors is fatty meat or fast food paired with sugary carbonated drinks, the expert told Lenta.ru.
