The Ministry of Education Science Culture and Sports has presented for public discussion a draft proposal to change the rules for forming classes in state general education schools in Armenia
According to the proposal the changes aim to reduce the workload of students as defined by the state education standards The project suggests introducing the new class formation rules gradually Starting from September 1 2026 the new system will initially apply only to first grade classes where the maximum number of students in each class will be set at 26 to 30
The proposal also states that in senior high schools specialized educational programs will be implemented through group based learning with smaller class sizes
Education specialists citizens and interested organizations are invited to submit their comments and suggestions regarding the draft through the Unified Platform for Legal Acts until March 26 2026
